Triple Play at Emerging Artist Stage
July, 2006
MKE magazine / C.Taylor

So lets go to On A Sun. They are all about timeless rock. Their great moment, to this photographer in love with light, was when that brightly heated sun began to set and spike through the stage, backlighting singer John McWilliam.

(On A Sun happens to be a trio of brothers so from here on out I will only use first names for this band and you can assume that the last name is McWilliam).

John's hair glowed like a crown of gold with sun rays beaming into my lens, making me just feel his voice and, man, it was sweet. It reminded me of (please dont hate me John), of some of what I call the great precision singers of our time, and they include Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder. They have amazing voice control, and it's timeless and emotional and full of passion. That was John.

So the sun setting, the splinters of light and the trio's clearly experienced and talented musicianship leant itself to the light. In my little world of photography, that made my moment, and I almost began singing, "Yeeeeahhhhh."
