Followed by a couple of down home - at home gigs at Yield on Milwaukee's East side with local comrades Fever Marlene. We raised LOADS OF DOUGH for the people of GREATER MILWAUKEE ECONOMIC DEVELOPERMENT inc. in conjuction with our 3rd leg, radio station WYMS 88.9. The night after that was a reunion of sorts performing at our petrie dish / place of origin SHANK HALL with our Madison friends POLYDREAM and our Mineapolis partners in crime CATCHPENNY. Too many stories to be told but as we say in the rock bizz "the stories never leave the dressing room"!!

We want to apologize to all those who took the trouble to venture to the RAVE Saturday night to see ON A SUN perform. About On A Sun
March 1 2007
HAPPENINGS
ON A SUN was one of 10 artists selected to be featured in "BEST OF AROUND HEAR 2006" by the ILLINOIS ENTERTAINER in the JANUARY 2007 issue!! See it here.
Yes, ON A SUN had a great, successful 2006 and we'd like thank all who have contributed to that in any way, shape or form. 2007 has the makings of being even bigger with all that's ahead of us!
In the dead of Winter we've been writing and rehearsing new material and working it into the shows that have been sprinkled throughout the beginning of the year. We're preparing for a big week in Austin, Texas during SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST with multiple shows in the process of being confirmed. We've also teamed up on a few college dates with CATCHPENNY for the NUTRISODA FRESH AIR TOUR We wrapped up the FALL FORWARD TOUR, tour in fine style as direct support for Sony Recording artists SOUL ASYLUM at Chicago's DOUBLE DOOR on November 11th. It was a sold-out, SOULed out show! Packed to the gills with a raucous crowd, we could think of no better way to cap off the tour and an awesome freakin' year.
ON A SUN has been rockin' the DOUBLE DOOR for the past couple of years, bringing our form of original Milwaukee Rock from Chicago's biggest suburb into what has become our adopted home. The crew and staff at DOUBLE DOOR are top notch and the personal and professional bond that has evolved allows us to truly deliver the sonic idiosyncrasies of our songs to the discerning music aficionados that reside in, or find their way to, Wicker Park. Basking in the good ju-ju of the legendary club always contributes to an inspired performance. And after all of the shows performed across the country this past Summer and Fall, ON A SUN once again pulled out the stops on this special event with SOUL ASYLUM, expending the energy we'd absorbed from all of the wonderful audiences along the way. THIS WAS NOT ONE TO MISS!!
A brief synopsis of other recent highlights leading up to that...,
Again, ON A SUN wishes to thank everyone who made the FALL FORWARD TOUR of 2006 a reality. We had the time of our lives performing at 10,000 feet for the SOUTH PARK MUSIC FESTIVAL in Colorado. Amazing people! Amazing event! The band rose to the occasion - literally. We then rocked and rolled out of the mountains into Denver for a musical omelette never before devoured in the sonically succulent WALNUT ROOM.
After a stop in Milwaukee for laundry duty, a cookout and a Lake Michigan breeze, the band braved tornadoes and hail storms to play a late night set at NEON’S in Cincinnati for the Mid Point Music Festival, thanking our Maker that we made it safe and sound and didn't have to cancel like so many other bands traveling to the Ohio River Valley for MPMF. Then, it was off to play for the rabble rousing rockers at YORK COLLEGE in York, Pennsylvania with our new friends THE UNDERWATER. Thanks for the hospitality, guys!
We zig-zagged back to Toledo, Ohio to perform for a veritable warehouse full of music lovers and party goers at the notorious HEADLINERS with our dear brothers in arms, QUIETDRIVE. After shaking the dust from the rafters off our shoulders, we galloped right on over to THE MERCURY LOUNGE in New York City for another fantastic gig at one of our favorite places to crank it up this side of the Atlantic...OR Pacific. BIG THANKS TO ALL OF OUR NY CITY FRIENDS! We are all still hurtin’! Ohhh, it hurts so good!
Following what amounted to a long nap and a short breakfast, it was up the coast to Boston, MA. Energy reserves had to be tapped, but the adrenaline was there because the line up in Cambridge at TT THE BEAR'S PLACE was TOP NOTCH. This was one hell of a musician’s night out, sharing the bill with Chicago’s WAX ON RADIO and THE NORTH ATLANTIC. The common thread on this tour was not to be broken, as this too was a night never to be forgotten.
East but not last was the appearance at THE DEWEY BEACH MUSIC CONFERENCE in Dewey Beach, Delaware. What a way to end an East coast leg! Far from a charley horse and 8 hours down the coast from Boston, we joined the party to stretch out and play for the laid back but enthusiastic hard core music fans at THE RUSTY RUDDER. One fabulous venue and a crazy crowd! Stories were made here in true rock fashion including - but certainly not limited to ;) - being shut down by the security guards at our after hours hotel room performance of Pink Floyd’s Us And Them. A perfectly appropriate set up for the trip back to Milwaukee and our return home with a rockin’, class 5 rapids line up at THE CACTUS CLUB of ON A SUN, THE GOOD LUCK JOES and Chicago's ABSENT STAR.
Following a brief respite and a few good meals, it was on up to Minneapolis and THE ROCK for a stellar, spooktacular Halloween show with the impressive Twin Cities rock stalwarts, GINGERJAKE. Thanks to them, we collectively brought the rock to THE ROCK!! From there, we moved on to have a great time tearin' it up at Madison's KING CLUB. What a spectacular venue! The crowd was great and the club's acoustics were perfect with the high ceilings, tiled floors and warm, fuzzy people sucking up the sound. A testimony to Madison's thriving scene. We'd been away for far too long and it was sooo good to see our Madison friends and fans out supporting the band. THANK YOU!! Also - not enough can be said about ON A SUN's sizzlin’ new Madison street team. Thanks, Caiti!! You rock!!
Stay tuned...more to come!
MORE TO COME!!
